The Omid Trust has accrued savings over 24 years of operations, since it was founded in 1989 under the name of Omid Housing Association. As a housing association, the organisation used to receive income in the form of housing benefits from those to whom it provided accommodation. It also received payments from other temporary housing associations based in the UK who were unable to find housing for their own clients – Iranian and non-Iranian alike. These savings were built over a period of 24 years, and was possible because of the generous efforts of the Omid Housing Association’s volunteers and directors who worked for free.
The Omid Trust is currently seeking to make strategic investments and fundraise in order to expand its operations.
