General Conditions of Eligibility
1) Applicants must be citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and liable to pay international or overseas fees for their desired Masters course. Applicants may not be citizens of any other country (e.g. dual nationals) which will result in them being eligible to pay fees at the Home/EU rate.
2) It is not necessary for applicants to reside in Iran at the time of their application, or to have completed their undergraduate degree in any particular country.
3) Applicants must apply to the University of Cambridge according to the published procedure and timetable, and be offered admission.
4) Applicants must state St Edmund’s College as their first-choice college in Cambridge (if you wish to apply to another College, you must write to the Omid Trust before submitting your application, explaining your reasons, and a member of our team will consider your request).
The Trust accepts applications from all Iranian candidates who meet our eligibility criteria, regardless of their background, sex, religion, or political affiliations.
Assessment Criteria
Academic Excellence
Applicants must be of outstanding academic merit. This is usually evidenced by their performance in school and university, and includes any prizes they may have won, articles they may have published, additional research work they have carried out, and so forth.
Needs
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are unable to afford the cost of pursuing the Masters course at the participating university.
You need not address this requirement in your application to the University, as the Departments make offers based on academic merit alone. Note however that you may still need to demonstrate your needs if you are applying for other scholarships available at the University. You should refer to the respective websites of those scholarships for advice.
Ambition and Motivation
Applicants must be able to demonstrate ambition and motivation to succeed. The Trust looks favourably on applicants who understand how their studies will help them achieve their goals, and those who can show that they are capable of overcoming obstacles and realising their objectives.
